Saakashvili says Georgia must discuss various issues with Russia

We should have a dialogue with Russia concerning lots of issues, Georgia's third president Mikheil Saakashvili said.

"One of the most topical issues that different left-wing parties, which will be a coalition government in the immediate future, must discuss with Pompeo is that Georgia is the only country in the region in which the Russian military is not officially deployed; the occupied region has not been recognized, and the truth of the matter is that the troops are there illegally.

The US faces problems in Turkey with regard to the military airbase. We can offer them Senaki or Vaziani, where an American military base can be built. However, this does not imply that we cannot have a dialogue with Russia. On the contrary, we must discuss various issues with this country, including trade, humanitarian, and other issues. We must build ties and hold a dialogue with all neighbors, but the fundamental guarantee of Georgia's security is America's presence in the region," Saakashvili said while live-streaming in the Mtavari Arkhi TV studio.
