"I call on the presidents and governments of our two friendly and neighboring countries to resume dialogue as soon as possible. I call on them to de-escalate, and cease the fire," Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili said after the Georgian National Security Council session.
She expressed her condolences for the victims of the military confrontation.
"It is in our common interests, in the interests of all three countries, to return to our region stability, peace, and its huge economic role for the whole world. I would also like to address to the Minsk Group and its co-chairs and repeat - we are ready for making Tbilisi a place where any negotiations can be held; we are ready for anything desirable for the parties. I also appeal to the European Union - we, all three countries of the region, are members of the Eastern Partnership. If it means something, if the neighborhood means something, and I believe it means a lot, stability and peace in this region are also in the EU's interests. The EU must also apply its strength to ensure peace and de-escalate the situation. It is our common goal, for all three countries and our nationals," Salome Zurabishvili stated.
