Salome Zurabishvili: I think no one will intervene in the war to defend Georgia

"I think after the 2008 war, it became clear that no one would get involved in the war to defend Georgia. Despite the inequality of forces, during and after the war, despite everything, Georgia's main victory is maintaining its European orientation," the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, stated at one of the panels of the Paris Peace Forum, "Maintaining international cooperation for a peaceful future."

Salome Zurabishvili answered the panel moderator's question on how Georgia should play its role in ensuring its sovereignty, security, and safety.

As Zurabishvili noted, the only prospect is proximity to Europe to a more committed Europe, a Europe that realizes that Russia is using all means today, including negative forces.

"If Russia's goal was to prevent Georgia from making a strategic decision by occupying territories and invading Georgia, it did not achieve this result.

To date, Europe has prioritized dialogue, and it is often a dialogue of the weak with the strong. We need to know what we want from this dialogue. We are in these difficult but equal and fair negotiations with Europe, never without Europe," said Salome Zurabishvili.
