The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, congratulated the people of Georgia on the National Flag Day from the Orbeliani Palace, where a flag-raising ceremony took place.
"Congratulations on the National Flag Day of Georgia.
I want to congratulate our youth, children, and everyone living under the state flag for 30 years. For those who do not remember when another country's flag used to be raised, what we have now is the greatest happiness. The state flag of Georgia is a symbol of our independence and freedom. On this day, I would like to congratulate our army, which is defending our territory, our freedom, and liberty, under this flag, proudly carrying it in international missions abroad.
I would like to congratulate the emigrants and embassies living outside our country. I want to congratulate police officers, rescuers, firefighters, doctors, medical staff, all the people, all the professionals who protect our society today. This is truly a great achievement for this country, and this flag is a symbol of that.
I want to urge everyone to respect this flag because respect for the flag is respect for ourselves, our country, culture, and traditions. This one symbol brings together our past and the power of the future. That's why this day is so important.
I would like to congratulate you on the National Flag Day and also on the Old New Year," the President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili stated.
Today Georgia celebrates National Flag Day.
