Early termination of power of the Head of the State Security Service will be discussed in the Parliament of Georgia. The agenda came after Vakhtang Gomelauri was approved by the Parliament as the Minister of Internal Affairs.
The law states that the parliament will have to elect a new Head of the State Security Service. In case of early termination, the Prime Minister should nominate a new Chief within one month after the termination.
The government submits the candidacy to the parliament afterwards parliament considers and approves the candidate within two weeks of its submission. The term of the Head of the State Security Services Chief is 6 years.
