Ukrainian public defender Lyudmyla Denisova has responded to ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili's court trial in her below-presented Facebook post:

''❗I praise the restoration by the Georgian authorities of the violated proceedings rights of a citizen of Ukraine, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the National Council of Reforms under the President of Ukraine Michael Saakashvili.

❗Michael's presence at today's court hearing in the case of November 7, 2007 in Tbilisi ensures his right to fair and public consideration guaranteed by Article 6 of the Convention on the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.

❗However, according to the information of the President of the International Center for Rehabilitation of Victims of Torture and Violence Mariam Jishkariani, Michael Saakashvili has symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder associated with prison torture.

❗As the Authorized Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights will continue to pay special attention to the retention of Michael Saakashvili's rights and urge the authorities of Georgia to ensure the legal rights, the right to proper medical care of a Ukrainian citizen."
