The United National Movement has issued a special statement saying that the health condition of Georgian ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili may worsen any time after 25-days on a hunger strike. However, the government refuses to transfer him to a high-class clinic, which cannot be a prison hospital.

"The Georgian government says that Saakashvili must be transferred to the prison hospital, where he will be devoid of adequate treatment, with a huge risk posed to his safety.

After the public defender publicized similar opinions, the Georgian Dream initiated a dirty campaign against her. On behalf of the Georgian government, the Justice Minister from the podium imposed a death sentence upon Mikheil Saakashvili. The prime minister, acting mayor of Tbilisi, and ruling party leaders have been issuing similar statements.

We call upon the International Community in Georgia, the accredited diplomatic corps, and international or local NGOs to apply all measures in their hands to protect the Georgian third president's right to live and ensure his safety,'' the statement reads.

The statement goes on to say that the Georgian government has not only kept Mikheil Saakashvili behind bars as a political prisoner but also imposed a death sentence on him. According to the statement, the Georgian public, notwithstanding the personal political views of separate individuals, cannot let them take Mikheil Saakashvili to the Gldani prison hospital.

''Taking the third president, there is tantamount to his murder and will cause a number of grave political and historic repercussions. We do urge the Georgian government to ensure Mikheil Saakashvili's health and safety. Otherwise, they will trigger the strongest possible reaction from the Georgian public. Also, remember that under any circumstances, you are held accountable for Saakashvili's life or death, you and Bidzina Ivanishvili, whose political prisoner is Saakashvili,'' the statement reads.

Mikheil Saakashvili was detained on 1 October.

He declared a hunger strike 25 days ago.
