Fines for violating COVID regulations have reportedly been subject to amnesty.

Today, the Georgian Parliament has approved the Bill on Exemption from Administrative Penalties and the Bill on Amnesty on its third hearing.

The amendments aim to exempt citizens from all penalties imposed on them for violation of the rules of isolation and quarantine before 23 June 2021.

As for the amnesty bill, it aims to absolve both natural and legal persons from criminal liability and punishment.

The initiative will apply to more than 245,000 citizens and 344 legal persons. The fines amount to around GEL 76 million.
