Vakhtang Gomelauri, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, will lead the National Security Council. Giorgi Gakharia, the Prime Minister of Georgia, nominated Gomelauri for the post and announced the decision at the cabinet meeting.
“The Security Council is essential, especially today, it has to work and function effectively. I congratulate Vakhtang on his appointment. His function, as well as his efforts, will increase and be more effective,” Gakharia said.
Levan Izoria led the National Security Council but resigned a few weeks ago.
Izoria appointed as Georgian ambassador to Germany.
