"Thanks to strenuous efforts by the government, our doctors and epidemiologists, as well as a strong sense of civic responsibility of our citizens, Georgia has remained a green zone," Georgian PM Giorgi Gakharia declared at the 75th session on the UN General Assembly.

The Prime Minister focused on COVID-19 and stressed that the entire world today is fighting against the mutual, invisible enemy.

"I am honoured to have the opportunity to address you and speak on behalf of my country.

The United Nations Organization has marked its 75th anniversary this year, and for the first time, the General Assembly has been held remotely. This format is extraordinary and even historic, for we all have the reason for this remote communication, which is our mutual and invisible enemy called COVID-19, against which the entire world is fighting today.

People's lives, irrespective of the region they live or the standard of life, are under common threat now, with this threat overshadowing all challenges which have been at the top of the UN agenda for decades; however, in some cases, it has cast light on the existing issues.

We all together, with different capabilities, are now facing an absolutely new and more pressing challenge.

Despite difficulties, in Georgia, we succeeded at combatting the pandemic, with the entire world unanimously recognizing our success," the PM said.

Mr. Gakharia thanked the US, EU, and international financial institutions and mentioned that their assistance was paramount in combatting the first wave of the virus.

"I take pride in the fact that a couple of days ago, the 112th session of the executive council of the United Nations World Tourism Organization was conducted in our country despite the pandemic, and I want to thank our allies the US, the EU, and the international financial institutions, whose assistance was critical in our fights against the first wave of the pandemic.

Obviously, we are being tested, with the virus still attacking us; however, our knowledge, which we have collected, has enabled us to manage the situation and share Georgia's successful experience with everyone," Giorgi Gakharia declared.
