“Pardoning is not a court process which is subordinated by objective criteria.It is an evaluation made by one person and the person is the president who has the right to assess circumstances” – declared Salome Zurabishvili on the widely rumored act of presidential pardoning evaluation.
“Pardoning is not an absolution.In general, it does not refer to angels but the criminals”, said Zurabishvili
The President once more reminded the society that she had initiated changes to the existing regulations of presidential pardoning.The process has already started.Salome Zurabishvili also mentioned that the Prosecutor’s Office in line with the Saint Mary Day pardoning case is also interested in the cases of “blackmailing statements”.
In August Salome Zurabishvili pardoned a number of persons including persons accused in murder.
