A group of German, Italian and Polish archaeologists have unearthed ancient Eurasian jewelry in a cave in Steinja, southern Poland, Eurekalert writes.
According to the publication, the ivory necklace was made 41,500 years ago.
Using 3D modeling, the scientists made a virtual reconstruction of the jewelry. A discovery by archaeologists indicates that 415 centuries ago, people made jewelry from mammoths.
"This scenery reflects the great creativity and extraordinary skills of Homo sapiens. The thickness of the plate is about 3.7 millimeters, which indicates the amazing accuracy of its creation," one of the scientists from the University of Wrocław, Violeta Novatsevska, stated.
