The government of the Calabria region of Italy is ready to pay 28 000 euros to those who want to move to a village. Authorities fear the villages could turn into "ghosts" in the near future, CNN writes.

We are talking about settlements near the sea and mountains. Recipients are required to start small businesses in rural areas.

Within a maximum of three years, people who relocate to these villages will start small businesses and revitalize dormant villages, receiving up to € 28,000 in funding.

The applicant must be established in these villages and must not be over 40.

Local authorities hope the event will attract young people and entrepreneurs to the region.
