A total of 1,000 villages in Georgia will receive better internet connectivity as the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors has approved EUR 35.7 million (40 million dollars) to support its digital transformation. The Log-in Georgia Project aims to connect people, enterprises, and institutions across rural Georgia to high-quality, affordable broadband internet and promote digital services, the World Bank has announced.

The World Bank supports Georgia’s goal of harnessing digital technologies to achieve its 2020 – 2025 strategic goals, to increase its economic competitiveness and provide better jobs and opportunities for all its people living in 1000 Georgian villages.

The project is aimed to provide around 500,000 people with a high-quality internet in the regions.

By increasing the coverage of high-speed broadband internet services in rural settlements, the Log-in Georgia project will help boost digitally enabled services through training and capacity building programs across the country.

The project implementer is a non-profit, non-commercial legislative body Open Net in cooperation with the Ministry of Economic and Sustainable Development during the coming five years.
