According to the director of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, Amiran Gamkrelidze, the circulation of Omicron is increasing in the country, and it is expected that up to 60% of the positive cases will be infected with "omicron" by the end of this week.

"There are 1 009 of confirmed, but we have already instructed the laboratories to send suspicious cases selectively. Approximately 10% to 20% of total cases are sent. The number of suspicious cases is so high, and it is already fluctuating with the signs that we doubt whether it could be "omicron," the number of such cases has already exceeded 60% in the total number of laboratory diagnoses. The number of "omicrons" in the circulation is already from 45%, and probably by the end of this week, according to our calculations, it will be up to 60% of completely positive cases," said Amiran Gamkrelidze.

According to Amiran Gamkrelidze, out of 1 009 confirmed cases of Omicron, 777 cases have been studied in detail, of which 16% are re-infections.

"We have about 16% re-infection. If I tell you 16%, these are confirmed cases. 777 cases have been studied in detail, and at this stage, 16% of them are re-infected," said Amiran Gamkrelidze.
