Twenty people were detained during the confrontation between the law enforcers and the protesters in front of the Parliament, the Ministry of Internal Affairs informed report.ge.

According to them, the activists were detained under Article 173 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, which stipulates disobedience to a police officer's lawful request.

The controversy began after opposition supporters, who had been in tents at the legislature's back entrance for several months, tried to move the tent in front of Parliament.

They were not allowed to set up the tent by the law enforcers, which led to a confrontation.

During the first confrontation, ten people were detained in front of the Parliament.

The situation got tense again after Levan Khabeishvili, a member of the United National Movement, protested against the detention of the rally participants and tried to set up a tent in front of the Parliament. The law enforcers did not allow him to do that.

Police arrested ten more activists during the confrontation.
