Levan Ratiani, the director of the First University Clinic of TSMU, who is in Ajara now, says that the region has no patients facing severe health complications, and medical personnel is outstandingly performing its duties.

Ratiani once again called upon citizens to follow recommendations and not to panic over the coronavirus.

"Coronavirus patient numbers may increase; however, the absence of severely ill patients in the Ajara region is what matters now. We should not panic. We may be infected but not diseased. We should protect ourselves and our surroundings. There is no medicine for the virus yet, but we can avoid it by maintaining a safe distance, wearing face masks, and following recommendations," Ratiani said.

Georgia has recorded 549 new cases of the coronavirus to bring the total tally to 9,245. Ajara remains the worst-hit region in Georgia, which recorded 348 new cases in the past 24 hours.

The country has so far registered 58 deaths and 4,887 recoveries, with 268 patients recovered recently.
