Head of the National Center for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze has elaborated on the antiseptic qualities of Georgian chacha ("grape vodka").
"Georgia pharmaceutic companies are actively working on filling the deficit of antiseptics, but we do have other items -- we are not faced with the deficit of soap, are we? Wash your hands with soap. We can also mix vodka with water. Drinking chacha will not help you. It just has antiseptic qualities, and you can apply it," Gamkrelidze said.
