According to Amiran Gamkrelidze, the head of the National Center for Disease Control, the death toll will increase in the next two weeks. Gamkrelidze made the statement at the briefing held at the government administration after the Coordination Council meeting.

According to him, as of today, about 400 patients are on controlled breathing.

"We will have an increase in mortality over the next two weeks because quite a large number are in critical condition; about 400 patients are on artificial respiration. Everything is done to save their lives, but unfortunately, we have an increase in mortality, because usually the mortality rate changes 2-3 weeks after the cases of infection are detected," Gamkrelidze said.

1 337 new patients tested positive for coronavirus in Georgia, while 3 498 patients defeated the virus. 

191 063 people have COVID-19 in the country, of which 161 681 already recovered.

1 839 people died due to the virus in Georgia, 49 of them during the last 24 hours.
