Amiran Gamkrelidze: The dynamics of the decline are observed

Amiran Gamkrelidze, the Director of the National Center for Disease Control, assessed the epidemiological situation in the country at a briefing held after the meeting of the Coordination Council. According to him, the daily rates of new cases of infection in Georgia are decreasing; however, in the case of the most severe indicator, the data is growing.

"Since mid-November, there has been a positive dynamics of a slow decline in new cases. Indicators related to the epidemic situation, such as the incidence, the number of new cases per 100,000 population, the cumulative incidence is declining, the positivity rate of the last seven and the last 14 days has already dropped to 6% and is within 5%. Unfortunately, the only thing that went up again is the most severe indicator - the mortality rate. Seventeen deaths per million citizens, which is about twice as much as our threshold indicator," Amiran Gamkrelidze stated.
