“We are ready to provide people with appropriate medical care,” Amiran Gamkrelidze, the head of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, stated.

“We may find out about the new cases of the virus. The country must be ready to provide medical care to these people at an early stage. Therefore, we have a reserve, both quarantine areas, and relevant hospitals, where we have every opportunity to provide people with appropriate medical care,” Gamkrelidze noted.

According to Gamkrelidze, 81 percent of cases are far from severe, and there will be a complete recovery without serious medical intervention. About 14-15 percent of the cases are severe, which need intense care, and five percent are in a critical condition requiring reanimation assistance.

The first case of coronavirus in Georgia reported on February 26. The 50-year-old man is a Georgian citizen who spent a week in Iran.
