"In a number of public speeches, I declare that whether we want it or not, we will have to introduce compulsory vaccination," the head of the Center for Disease Control, Amiran Gamkrelidze, stated.
He said compulsory vaccination is not against human rights. Gamkrelidze specified for which groups of the society vaccination may become mandatory.
"There is a lot of argument that mandatory vaccination is against human rights, but believe me, this is not the case. It is not in conflict, either legally or morally.
Today, when there is a pandemic, compulsory vaccination should be prescribed first for us, the medical staff, even though 79% of doctors are vaccinated. But this figure is lower in the case of nurses and junior medical staff. Vaccination should also be mandatory for teachers in schools, as well as for other professions. We have been raising this issue for a long time, and I hope that after a certain period of time and discussion, this issue will be resolved," Gamkrelidze noted.
