Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia said that the stabilization of the existing situation in the Ajara region would take at least two weeks. However, in her words, the situation here is under control, with all-out efforts made to contain the virus.

"Batumi has a well-functioning technological base and highly qualified team of doctors," the deputy minister said, adding that the situation in the region is effectively controlled, with coronavirus patients isolated and their contacts traced.

Georgia has seen four coronavirus deaths today to bring the total death toll to 54. The country has so far recorded 8,696 cases and 4,619 recoveries. A total of 578 cases and 375 recoveries have been registered recently.
