Azerbaijani Council of Elders of Georgia issues an appeal

The Azerbaijani Council of Elders of Georgia appeals to the President of Georgia, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the United Nations, the Council of Europe, the European Parliament, and representatives of accredited international organizations.

"We, the elders, declare that the Republic of Armenia has been pursuing an aggressive policy towards Azerbaijani people and the state of Azerbaijan since 1988. As a result of the ethnic cleansing policy pursued by the Armenian leadership, more than a million Azeris have become refugees in their homeland. Armenian aggression and provocative actions did not end there. They occupied Azerbaijani lands. As a result of this occupation, 20 percent of the lands of Azerbaijan were lost, and up to a million people became refugees. The Armenian aggression, their fascist ideology, and terrorist acts have been going on for 30 years. Armenian troops are fleeing the battlefield, losing a war, which is why the Armenian army is deliberately opening fire on the Azerbaijani civilian population in Ganja, Mingecevir, Barda, and Terter, resulting in the death of hundreds of people. The UN Security Council adopted four resolutions on crimes committed by Armenia and the occupation of Azerbaijani lands. The bombing of Azerbaijani cities by the Armenian leadership contradicts the decisions and resolutions of the UN, the OSCE, and other international organizations, the norms, and principles of international law.

We, the Azerbaijani Council of Elders of Georgia, strongly condemn Armenia's aggressive policies and terrorist acts. We ask you and all international organizations to condemn Armenia's actions and refrain from their vandalism, terrorism, and aggressive policies. The Armenian government, which commits such inhumane acts, will be held accountable in the International Court of Justice and receive a deserved sentence. We call on all peace-loving countries and organizations to condemn the terrorist acts and aggressive policies pursued by Armenia and to prevent the massacre of innocent civilians," reads the statement.
