Ramon Cugat, the doctor of Barcelona football club released a statement regarding Vazha Gaprindashvili.
“We are writing this letter on behalf of our dear friend and colleague, Vazha Gaprindashvili.
We have known him since arriving in Barcelona for a one-year scholarship program. He is a kind, considerate and honest doctor whose desire to help people is so great that he deserves compassion and respect.
Gaprindashvili did not go to Tskhinvali region for political reasons. His sole purpose was to visit the patient.
We urge the authorities to consider the matter fairly and release our colleague as soon as possible so that the suffering of his family and friends could end.
If there is anything we can do to speed up this process peacefully, please let us know.
He has always been dedicated to his patients”, reads the statement.
