CEC releases instructions for voters to follow during upcoming elections

"Voters arriving in polling stations on October 31 to vote must wear face masks," Tamar Zhvania, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Georgia, declared.

She introduced the rules voters should follow during parliamentary elections.

She said all those without masks would receive them on the spot.

"Afterwards, a voter will go through a disinfection barrier. The disinfectant will subject to disinfection every two hours. Afterward, voters will go to the queue manager, show their ID cards, and remove mask for identification. After that, the voter will put on the mask, and the marking mode on his/her thumb will be checked. Then, he/she will disinfect hands and come to the table. Near the table, after handing over the identity card, the voter will again remove the mask and take a pen for signature. Next, he/she will take the ballot and enter the booth. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the cabin has experienced redesign. It will not be entirely closed for intense ventilation purposes. After the voter votes, he/she will throw the pen into a particular trash can and then drop the ballot into the ballot box. After that, he/she will leave the polling station," Tamar Zhvania said.
