Georgian citizens will return from Italy to Tbilisi on a special flight today. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, these are the passengers whose flights canceled. The Government of Georgia will provide them with a plane.
Passengers will arrive from the country at high risk of spreading the new coronavirus according to the protocol established by the International Health Organization. According to the Georgian embassy in Italy, they are in constant contact with citizens and provided them with essentials. The passengers will gather in Rome and will leave for Georgia.
Alexandre Khvtisiashvili, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, said that citizens coming from Italy would be checked as soon as they arrive.
"The Embassy of Georgia, with the help of the Italian side, provided relevant permits and corridors for these people, some of whom are already in Rome, the other part will travel to Rome and then to Georgia following the relevant protocol," Alexander Khvtisiashvili said.
Italy got declared as a "red zone" due to coronavirus, with quarantine imposed throughout the country.
