According to the Coalition for Media Advocacy, the developments at Adjara Public TV and Radio are alarming.
“Starting from April 2019, the doubt on editorial policy independence of the channel is being proved daily. There is a real threat that the newly elected Board of Advisors and the new management to change the staff jobs list and deprive a part of the staff from the editorial policy of the company,” – the statement reads.
The statement signals the alarming situation not only from the media freedom point of view but also from the human rights violation side.
“We, the Coalition member organizations, plan to be active to protect the idea of the Public TV. At the same time, we summon international organizations to help save the freedom of expression” – says the statement.
