COVID in children: Most telling symptoms

Pediatrician and Director of Iashvili Children Hospital Ivane Chkaidze said that children who catch coronavirus show symptoms that are different from those of adult patients.

In Chkaidze's words, around 3% of children who suffer from obesity or chronic diseases face coronavirus complications and are hospitalized. As the pediatrician says, unlike adults, children rarely lose smell and taste; however, they suffer from stomach disorders or pain, nausea, fatigue, and loss of appetite more frequently.

According to Chkaidze, as many as 42 underage patients were admitted to the hospital in a month. "The number of these patients is increasing, and this is not surprising in the slightest, as lots of children are infected with coronavirus in the country today," he said.
