Deputy health Minister expects insignificant virus outbreak in Georgia

Insignificant coronavirus disease outbreak can be expected in the country, according to Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia. In her words, a single-day spike of 21 cases, as it was yesterday, does not indicate that the situation spiraled out of control; however, this points to the fact that the virus has not disappeared, and we should be cautious.

"Daily virus tally has been higher in the country recently as new cases were reported in hotspots, such as the Bolnisi municipality, quarantined patients, and medical personnel. All the three are high-risk groups. Accordingly, an increase in cases cannot be blamed on easing coronavirus restrictions. However, in the future, an insignificant coronavirus disease outbreak can be expected in the country as cases may surge in these groups," Gabunia said.
