Dozens arrived from Adjara in the village of Buknari, Chokhatauri Municipality, to support the Muslim community.

"We are Georgians; we are the children of one country and do not like confrontation. We are waiting for the government, the governor should come, we will talk," said Firuz Tsulukidze.

Mufti of Kobuleti and Guria Aslan Beridze also arrived in Buknari today.

A confrontation took place in the village of Buknari, Chokhatauri Municipality yesterday. Part of the rural population, a Muslim community, wants to arrange a shrine in the village, which is opposed by part of the Christian population of the village. The difference of opinion escalated into a physical confrontation.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs detained one person on the fact of confrontation in Buknar.

According to Chokhatauri Mayor Irakli Kuchava, the government and law enforcers will do their best to resolve the conflict in the village of Buknari.
