Ekaterine Tikaradze: Georgia is ready for vaccination

The Minister of IDPs from the occupied territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia, Ekaterine Tikaradze, visited Tbilisi Infectious Diseases Hospital.

As the Ministry of Health informed report.ge, Tikaradze personally got acquainted with the storage conditions of the vaccine on the spot. According to her, the Infectious Diseases Hospital is ready to receive the vaccine and start the process.

As explained in the Ministry, the process of preparation for vaccination is actively underway in medical institutions. Due to the requirements, large clinics will be involved in the vaccination process, the ones with appropriate resources, both in terms of patient flow management and equipment. The medical facility must have a permit for emergency medical care, as well as immunization experience and at least three brigades, as well as an isolated entrance and area for those vaccinated.

The Ministry of Health has selected ten medical institutions and five reserve clinics in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, and Batumi.

"Georgia is ready for vaccination. The Ministry of Health has conducted successful negotiations, as a result of which the first batch of vaccines will arrive in Georgia at the end of February, and first, doctors will be vaccinated. Today at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, I looked at the cold chain necessary to get the Pfizer vaccine. It is important to consider every detail so that the process can be carried out safely for both doctors and our population. The Regulatory Agency has already started a detailed study of all clinics," Tikaradze noted.

The registration of medical staff in the database of the Center for Disease Control has already begun.
