Ekaterine Tikaradze's statement: Is it planned, or in what case will the lockdown be announced?

The Minister of Health, Ekaterine Tikaradze, who met with the WHO Regional Director for Europe in a remote format, says that after WHO introduces a new treatment guideline, Georgia will also make changes to the treatment protocol.

According to Ekaterine Tikaradze, it is essential for the country to avoid another lockdown. As Tikaradze stated, the lockdown will be the last measure that will be used in extreme cases. As the Minister pointed out, to avoid such restrictions, it is important to increase the vaccination rate, especially in the population over 60.

"Mr. Kluge has a meeting with 53 leading doctors of the world on December 6, as a result of which new treatment guidelines will be set. The WHO Regional Director praised the initiative of Georgia, as he thinks it is important that vaccination reaches at least 90% in those over 60," explained Ekaterine Tikaradze.

The Minister also focused on the workload of doctors.

"It is important that Hans Kluge responded to the ongoing reform in Georgia, which involves the introduction of digital healthcare within primary health care. The World Health Organization supports this reform and is ready for more active involvement," said the head of the Ministry of Health.
