The Embassy of Georgia in the United Kingdom issues a statement for Georgian citizens:

"Today, Prime Minister Boris Johnson addressed the public and, due to the rapid increase in the number of coronavirus cases, announced the 5th level of the alarm system in the UK and a national lockdown on January 5, which includes the following:

People need to stay home. Exceptions are movement: for essential needs, education, getting to work and exercising once a day;

The hospitality sector is closed;

Work from home where possible;

All types of shopping facilities, recreation, and entertainment centers are closed;

Educational institutions and schools will switch to online teaching mode until mid-February. As an exception, schools will be open only to the children of critical workers.

Prime Minister Johnson also noted that the country is undergoing universal vaccination using two vaccines approved in the UK (Pfizer and AstraZeneca-Oxford). The easing of restrictions imposed will depend on successful vaccination and adherence to government recommendations," the Georgian embassy said in a statement.
