The fire on the territory of Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park got extinguished. The Emergency Management Service spreads information about the incident.
"The Public Security Management Center - "112" of the Ministry of Internal Affairs received information about a fire in the territory of Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park on the slope of Amarati Mountain in Akhaltsikhe Municipality.
Upon receiving the notification, fire-rescue teams and fire-fighting equipment immediately left to reach the scene.
Despite the difficult terrain, firefighters were able to mobilize equipment and workforce near the epicenter of the fire. Locals were involved in the process together with the firefighters. At first glance, 4 hectares of forest cover got burned.
Criminal and patrol police crews are also present at the scene," the agency said in a statement.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs launched an investigation into the incident under Article 187, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which stipulates damaging or destroying an item by setting it on fire.
