The Coalition called "For Advocating Media" has published a report on 5-6 July developments in Tbilisi.
The report analyzes preconditions entailing violence against media representatives and the corresponding legal aspects.
According to the organization, the assessment is based on public sources.
The document highlights violent developments, harm sustained by journalists and cameramen, and illegal meddling in journalists' activities, as well as the legitimacy and appropriateness of decisions by authorities. It also focuses on the practice of identifying, detaining and instituting legal proceedings against the offenders involved in 5-6 July events in the country.
On July 5, anti-Tbilisi pride week, radical groups attacked journalists; 55 citizens, out of who 53 were media representatives, were subject to violence that day.
Radical groups also attacked representatives of different media outlets on July 6.
On July 5, TV Pitveli cameraman Lekso Lashkarava was physically assaulted. He was taken to New Hospitals for treatment.
On July 11, the cameraman was found dead in his own house.
Lashkarava was buried on July 13.
