“Georgia, along with Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Iran, is ready to fight religious extremism,” Zaza Vashakmadze, the Head of the State Agency for Religious Issues stated.

Vashakmadze made the statement at a conference where religious extremism was discussed, together with means of prevention.

According to the Head of the Agency, Georgian authorities support religious organizations operating in Georgia, both financially and morally. Tavadze is ready to deepen cooperation with neighboring Muslim communities.

The conference was attended by clergymen from both Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Iran. Representatives of the embassies of the same countries participated in the event as well.
