Georgia, Korea sign air transport agreement

According to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, Georgia and Korea have signed an air transport agreement enabling both countries to perform regular flights in each other's airspace.

The state agency says that the legal base in the field of air transport, drawn up recently, will ease the performance of regular flights, promote the strengthening of trade and economic relations and contribute to the development of tourism.

"It is noteworthy that several charter flights were performed between Georgia and Korea in 2018-2019 by Korean Air Lines, with around 1,500 passengers transported.

Additionally, pre-pandemic data show that the number of Korean victors to Georgia increased dramatically. More specifically, a total of 16,642 visitors entered Georgia in 2019, which is 25.3 percent less compared to visitors in 2018, and by 112.2 percent compared to those of 2017," the ministry says.
