Georgia has detected 262 new cases of the novel coronavirus infection, and the number of infected reached 277,480, StopCov.ge reports.

A total of 189 people recovered, with the total number hitting 269,973.

The virus claimed nine lives in the past 24 hours, and the number of the death toll equaled 3,700.

Georgia conducted 11,923 tests in the past 24 hours, including fast antigen tests equaling 5,595 and PCR tests – 6,328.

Test positivity rates are as follows:

Daily – 2.20%,

Over the past 14 days – 1.55%,

Over the past seven days – 1.63%.

Georgia observed the first case of the novel coronavirus infection on February 26, 2020.

The World Health Organization declared the pandemic on March 11.

The pneumonia-causing infection outbreak began in China in December 2019.

On January 21, 2020, China confirmed the virus's human-to-human transmission and declared a quarantine in its two cities.
