The Mestia Municipality City Hall is calling upon locals to power off miners as electricity consumption has increased 237% times in the region compared to that of last year. According to the City Hall, this may lead to a power outage in Mestia.

Following the statement by the City Hall, the municipality, in general, needs seven MW of power when due to the dramatically increased number of miners, it now consumes 27 MW electricity.

The statement goes on to say that power transmission lines break under quadrupled pressure, and this has resulted in the damage of the Enguri HPP first and its substitute power transmission line afterward.

''Today, as never before, we need to assume civic responsibility. We live in a small community in which we meet each other daily and have daily interactions. Let us respect each other, each other's families, and children. Let us power off miners and return to a normal life,'' the statement reads.
