“Until the end of May, we plan to vaccinate about 200,000 people with two shots. Starting June, when the appropriate stock is available globally and locally, we will launch mass immunization,” Amiran Gamkrelidze, head of the National Center for Disease Control of Georgia, stated.

In his words, Georgia has signed a contract for the supply of 1,400,000 shots of the coronavirus vaccine.

Besides, negotiations are underway for extra 2.5 million doses.

“We represent a small country. This year we will need about 3.9 million doses. Out of these, 1.4 million doses have already been approved… Besides, through direct negotiations, we attempt to acquire another 2.5 million shots. The primary results of the negotiations will be known in two weeks,” Gamkrelidze said.
