Director-General of Infectious Diseases, AIDS and Clinical Immunology Research Center, Tengiz Tsertsvadze, said that people catching the Indian COVID strain show more severe symptoms _ more nasal discharge, stronger headaches, and flu-like symptoms _ than those diagnosed with the coronavirus from other strains.

In Mr. Tsertsvadze's words, the Indian coronavirus variant is 50% more contagious than the British, which, on its part, is 50% more contagious than the Chinese.

''The Indian strain has not yet been subjected to thorough studies, but extremely reputable experts have already put forward conjectures that Indian strain symptoms are much more severe than those of others,'' Tengiz Tsertsvadze told Rustavi 2.
