Georgian health official says it is vague if coronavirus cases peak is still ahead

“The number of coronavirus cases is steadily increasing, and we are close to 4,000. We do not yet know if 4,000 is our peak or if we will see a further increase in cases,” said Deputy Minister of Health of Georgia Tamar Gabunia.

She says preventive measures have been taken, and discussions are underway regarding further steps.

“There is also a mobilization of the hospital sector, primary health care, and hotels. The next reserve volume is to increase the bed capacity to 7,000, and the most extensive maximum - to 8,000 beds. However, this is in the top mobilization scheme.

Georgia has used hotels, and it is a very comfortable model,” Tamar Gabunia said.
