''Winter will soon arrive, and we have as little as one-third of the public fully vaccinated; this is a drop in the ocean,'' Deputy Director of NCDC Paata Imnadze told TV Palitra.

In Imnadze's words, the first Omicron cases are likely to be recorded in Georgia in a month.

Imnadze noted that almost a half of the population, except for the vaccinated and those with current natural post-COVID immunity, is susceptible to the coronavirus, and 'this is immensely concerning.'

As for the new Omnicorn variant, the NCDC deputy head pointed out that Georgia has around a month before it arrives in the country, and it can use this time to determine 'with what we are dealing.'
