Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has held a meeting with members of the family of Zaza Gakheladze, illegally detained by Russia’s occupation forces.

In Garibashvili’s words, the government is doing everything for the immediate release of Zaza Gakheladze.

He added that the issue was raised at a high political level and is under discussion with international partners.

Irakli Garibashvili showed support for Zaza Gakheladze and his family. He emphasized that his immediate release from illegal detention is one of the main priorities of the government.

On July 11, 2020, a resident of Kvemo Chala of the Kaspi municipality Zaza Gakheladze, was detained by the Russian occupation forces. On February 5, 2021, the so-called court of the Russia-occupied Tskhinvali region sentenced Zaza Gakheladze to 12 years and six months in jail.
