According to the Agency of Protected Areas of Georgia, ranger Giorgi Abramishvili has been listed among the top 10 rangers worldwide.
''The IUCN and the World Commission on Protected Areas have conferred the International Ranger Award on senior ranger in charge of the Protected Areas of Batsara-Babaneuri, Giorgi Abramishvili, who has been committed to the protection of the unique nature of Georgia's protected areas for 17 years,'' statement by the agency reads.
The IUCN WCPA International Ranger Awards seek to recognize rangers that have gone above and beyond the call of duty to protect wildlife and support local communities, be it at the individual or team level.
