PM Giorgi Gakharia has visited the April 9 memorial and laid a wreath at it. He also remembered the tragic day and stressed that this day is an unhealed would for our country.
"I understand that we are now in the front line fighting against COVID-19, but we should not forget our history. The Soviet army committed a crime 31 years ago, on April 9 of 1989. This crime could be defined as the greatest tragedy and the greatest hope in our country's history.
This hope came to fruition on April 9, 1991, when our country gained its independence, and we started building the state. We have to commemorate our great heroes and never forget who brought us where we are standing now," Gakharia declared, adding that Georgians have to build a successful and powerful country.
