"We have announced a new schedule for intensive testing, which started yesterday and will reach 20 000 tests per day in the nearest future," Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said at a government meeting.
According to the Prime Minister, the program aims to maximize the effectiveness of the 2-month restrictions. He said it is a parallel process that should facilitate rapid detection of epidemic prevalence.
"We have announced a plan for two-month restrictions, which should stabilize the spread of coronavirus in the country. Citizens will have the opportunity to take 20 000 tests daily at the expense of the state, in addition to what the commercial sector will do. This step has a specific goal - the two-month plan of restrictions should be effective, and we should identify cases of infection, isolate them or treat them as soon as possible so that we can continue to live a full life from February," Gakharia said.
