Former Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili will no longer be protected by personal life-long bodyguards.
In accordance with the amendments to the law, lifetime protection is abolished if a threat is not posed to a former top official's life.
According to the Special State Protection Service, the ex-President is not faced with any threat, which is why he will no longer be accompanied by personal bodyguards.
From July of 2020, along with the former Georgian high executive, former chairperson of the parliament Irakli Kobakhidze will no longer be under the protection of the Special State Protection Service.
