"Patients who need medical care will be hospitalized, but their majority, which is around 80%, will have to treat coronavirus at home under doctors' supervision," Levan Ratiani, the director of the First University Clinic of Tbilisi State Medical University, said after an online meeting with the health minister and Georgian doctors abroad.
In Ratiani's words, they are drafting a protocol that will specify the criteria for coronavirus patients needing hospitalization.
"Around 80% of patients may be infected but showing no clinical symptoms; considering the status quo, their hospitalization will prove impossible; however, 20% of patients with severe and moderate COVID-19 will be hospitalized," Ratiani said. He also added that they have discussed Georgia's present situation, the number of critical patients, treatment methods, and other issues with their Georgian colleagues abroad and received the corresponding feedback from them.
